Second Year: #8
This is my Finished poster i did for The AFP as a school project that could possibly chosen for next years official national missing persons week poster. I'm am pretty happy with it, it was targeting people the elderly who go missing, so I basically had a younger brain and an older brain and shows them in different perspectives.
I used a tablet to do the majority of this design, and I haven't used one in AGES, and it felt good, I think i may start using it a lot more.
A simple price list I made to match the theme of our tour kicking off next week.

Just put in a new run of merch for my band, Our biggest run so far. Crew necks, mosh shorts and shirts which will be tie dyed. Here are the simple 1 colour designs I quickly whipped up.
I didn't actually make this logotype, a mate in melbourne called Brock Chamings did this one up for us and did a great job on it, all of his stuff is insane go check it out! |

A bit of an update on my work for the MIC music project. I have almost finish the CD 4 panel layout for them and the CD label. Still waiting on a whole heap of details from my client to add into the inside panel which will be all the special thanks etc. Will be making a muck up print of it within the next couple of days, pretty keen to see how it turns out!

Work in Progress.
This is nowhere near done but is coming together nicely, we will be doing a tour in June/July all the way down the east coast, Most of these dates are close to be confirmed, but this is just a mock up of the poster to get a little bit ahead of myself and make sure its ready to go when all the details are confirmed.
Second Year: #4
For this project we had 2 clients. One from FIT - females in training who wanted a re-branded logo for their company, they didn't want it to be completely different, just altered so it was better without changing the style. This is what i came up with:
The second client was 2XL two guys who owned a construction business together, They wanted their logo to be simple and easy to read on vans, and on high visibility shirts. Here is what I came up with:
Original - Hard to read/wrong direction |
Not 100% happy with this but will see what they say |
Mock up on some babe |

Another Project from this year we have received a brief from the Royal Australian Mint. They want us to create 2 coins to be produced. One that can be a coin collectors item and another that can be produced for circulation. The idea to be put on the coin was up to us really, it just had to commemorate something or someone significant. I did struggle at first with coming up with some ideas for this assignment. I searched for all historic dates and tried to find something special that happened on a commemorative year such as 50, 100, 150, 200 years ago. Couldn't really find much.
After a LOT of thinking, I chose to tackle the thinking process from a different angle. I then researched thoroughly all the extinct or endangered animals/insects/plants we have in Australia. I found one particular insect that was really liked and was intrigued by. The Tasmanian Stag Beetle, a large beetle that is highly endangered in Tasmania because of trees being cut down. Our coins are supposed to have underlying messages in them, so in this design so far I have created the stag beetle on top of a map of Tasmania, with a wooden texture as they live in trees. Not to sure if i am happy with the final product yet or it has enough story but this is what i have so far:
After that design I was stumped again as to what other subject I could use. I then started thinking about mythical creatures and stories we have in Australia. This led me to the Australian dream time, and the biggest Australian dream time creature was the rainbow serpent. I researched further into this beast. In my design so far I have created as you can see the rainbow serpent going around a map of Australia. In the background I have incorporated an aboriginal pattern. To go even further into detail with the underlying story on this one I have created a little dot (seen in the corner of the image) with smaller dots in it. This has been placed in each section of the snakes back and all equal up to about 200 dots, representing the 200 languages that were spoken by the Indigenous people when the British first settled in Australia. Also incorporated in that first coin design is some rain, as the serpent was said to bring rain also. Here are the rainbow serpent designs so far:

This year we have been teamed up with some MIC music students from CIT, so we can design them a music identity for their music. I have been teamed up with Josh who plays guitar in a progressive-rock band, much influenced by Opeth and Tool. From all the information i coudl get from him I sort of start to envision what look on his CD and band logo he was going for. He wanted something mysterious, dark, heading toward the band Tools wacky artwork. We were asked to make a mood board consisting of a heap of photos we found on the internet to try and build a mood for the identity of his band. He was pretty happy with the direction and feel I had enforced in my collaboration of images. This was the final mood board:
I started experimenting with heaps of different blending modes and shapes because creating some weird designs that he was after was basically all about experimenting and testing and trying to find something that couldn't really be drawn on paper. and this is where the start of it has led me so far:

Welcome back to my blog for the year! I have had a sweet holidays over Christmas and New Years, and just recently got back from an amazing holiday over in New Zealand with my family. Because i was away I missed the first 2 and a half weeks of school, so I'm hoping I can catch back up and smash some of this years work out! :)
I recently started using instagram, an app on smart phones were people can share photos and other people can comment on them. People can follow each other and see each others photos much like twitter but with photos. I have found some insane inspiration on this app, I am following a guy called Ncwintersart who is one of my favorite artists at the moment, the intricacy and detail he puts into his artwork is INSANE. He mostly paints with water colours and inks. I wish I could paint...Here is some of his artwork:
Bone Lazer - Liquid acrylic inks on paper. 8″ x 10″ |

Here is some artwork I did for my band, I did our latest single artwork and also did a small singlet design to be released with it, which have all been sold out now, so the design couldn't of been that bad eh? Since I made this I have had a fair few local bands coming to me for artwork, mostly show posters, but I have done some CD artwork and band logos too.I really enjoy doing band designs and helping out the local music community.
First Year: #8
Not gonna lie, it has been a while since I posted in this blog, but I have a LOT to post, so i'll be caught up in no time! Here we go! My excuse is that I have been busy doing all of this work I'm about to show you! haha
Okay First of all during the holidays I worked on a few little things for some friends in local bands/booking agencies.
This first one was for a small Canberra based band booking agency, and was very happy with the final logo, it looks great on posters.
This was some EP artwork I did for a small Canberra hardcore band, they weren't to happy with the design in the end as it didn't suit the music, but they didn't give me much information to work with including no music or anything so it was a bit hard.
